Welcome to the IRIS Study!

IRIS stands for Identity, Resilience, and Interconnection after Stress. IRIS is a study being conducted by researchers at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the University of Washington.

What is the IRIS study?

The study focuses on social relationships, well-being, and health-related behaviors like drinking after stressful life experiences. You do not need to have had a recent stressor to participate!

You may be eligible to participate if you are between the ages of 19 and 30 and live within or near Lincoln, Nebraska. Eligible participants can earn up to $425 for their participation.

What Would I Do as a Participant?

There are many different IRIS study procedures that you may be eligible to participate in!

01

Complete a quick
10-minute screening
survey to see if you’re eligible.

The screening survey will include questions about how you identify, stress, sexual behaviors, and your contact information. There is no compensation for this screening survey.

02

If eligible, you’ll receive a link to the next survey, which will take 1 to 1.5 hours to complete.

This baseline survey will include more questions about stress, sexual behaviors, mental health, and substance use. You’ll receive $25 for completing this baseline survey.

If eligible, you may be invited to participate in interviews and online surveys over the next year.

You may be invited to study opportunities involving short, daily phone surveys. You can earn up to $400 and may be eligible for a raffle to win an additional $150-300.
